Conditional Admission - Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies Program

This article outlines the specific pathway for candidates entering the Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies Program who are still finalizing enrollment requirements.

Why?

In the Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies Program (BA-LS), conditional admission is most often utilized for candidates who have met most admissions requirements, but are missing one or more of the items listed below. Conditional admission allows a candidate to begin the enrollment process and complete the CAS 50 course while satisfying the required enrollment items by the conditional enrollment deadline.

Potential Exceptions

A candidate may be conditionally admitted if all admissions requirements are met by the application deadline with the following exceptions:

  • Delay in securing classroom access, teaching 15 hours per week due to employer's availability (i.e. summer break) and/or awaiting a hiring decision.
  • There is a pending official partnership agreement (MOU) in place between your employer and Reach University.
  • Completion of high school completion confirmed.
  • Official transcript(s) with pending in-transfer credits confirmed.
  • Official transcript with pending associate degree conferred.

How do I qualify for conditional admission?

To be offered conditional admission you must:

  • Complete all other admission requirements besides the potential exceptions listed above.
  • Sign the Conditional Admit Attestation Form located within your application portal.
  • Demonstrate that you are actively working toward satisfying your outstanding requirements by the general enrollment deadline. This may include:
    • Employment: If you have not yet secured a qualifying teaching position, please provide documentation of your search. This may include HR portal screenshots showing active applications, interview invitations, or a Letter of Intent from a potential site leader.
    • Transcripts: Provide tracking information for any pending official transcripts or provide a letter from the Registrar verifying that your degree has been conferred and that the official transcript is forthcoming.

What Happens if Requirements are Not Satisfied?

Conditional admission is a time-sensitive status. If you are unable to provide proof of Subject Matter Competence, eligible employment, and/or a conferred bachelor's degree by the conditional enrollment deadline, the following actions will occur:

  1. Administrative Withdrawal: Your enrollment in the BA-LS Program for the intended term will be cancelled and will not be allowed to enroll in coursework for the Fall or Spring semester.
  2. CAS 50 Credit: You may complete CAS 50 and receive credit, but you will not transition into the next semester of the BA-LS program.
  3. Future Readmission: You will be encouraged to pursue the readmission process as long as you successfully meet the outstanding requirements and have successfully completed Preservice.
