FAQ - Colorado Undergraduate Applicants
1. I work for a school in Colorado, and I’m interested in Reach. How do I know if it’s the right fit for me?
It depends on whether you are seeking a degree pathway that leads to teacher licensure.
- If you work in a charter or a district that already has an alt-cert program of its own, Reach may be a good fit. You may proceed with the normal application process.
- If you are NOT seeking licensure, Reach may be a good fit, and you can proceed with the normal application process.
- Please note that Reach University is NOT an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) in Colorado. Our BA programs will lead to a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Education degree, but not a teaching licensure.

Because licensure rules vary by state, it is important to review the options available in Colorado before deciding on a program.
2. I work in a district or charter that already partners with Reach. What should I do?
If your district or charter is already a Reach partner, you can proceed through the standard Reach application process by clicking here.
3. I work in a district or charter that does not currently partner with Reach. Can I still apply?
Yes. You may still explore Reach programs.
However, you should first determine whether you or your district is seeking a degree pathway that leads to teacher licensure.
- If you are not seeking licensure through an undergraduate BA program, Reach may still be a good fit.
- If you work in a charter or district that already has its own alt-cert program, Reach may be a good fit. You may proceed with the normal application process.
- If you are seeking licensure through an undergraduate BA program, you should review the licensure-granting pathways available in Colorado before deciding how to proceed.
4. What if I want to become a licensed teacher in Colorado?
If your goal is to earn teacher licensure, you will need to pursue a state-approved licensure pathway in Colorado.
Reach can help you understand the options available, but they cannot place you directly into a specific licensure pathway.
Candidates in Reach’s bachelor’s program earn a degree only, not a teaching credential or teaching license.* Upon graduation, candidates may use their Reach undergraduate degree to enroll in a state-approved licensure program. OR, if a candidate works in a charter or district with its own alternative certification program, the candidate may enroll in their employer’s program.
*If you do not yet have a BA, this may not be the most efficient route to licensure, as you may have access to BA programs in Colorado that lead directly to licensure and do not require post-graduate studies. Please review the available programs in Colorado to determine which pathway aligns with your goals.
