Early Completion Option: Requirements and Key Deadlines for Accelerated Credentialing
In order to qualify for the ECO program, candidates must meet all program admissions requirements, including the subject matter competency requirement, sign the ECO Expectations Agreement, and pass the NES Assessment of Professional Knowledge (NES APK). NES APK passing scores must be submitted before the intended academic term begins. Upon enrollment, ECO candidates must also take and pass the summer preservice course to be eligible for the District Intern Credential by the start of the academic year.
*Failure to pass the NES APK on the first attempt will result in the candidate needing to start over in the traditional 2-year pathway from the very beginning without any progress made. This policy also stands if, in the event a CalTPA cycle is not passed on the first attempt during the time a candidate is in the ECO pathway for the Intern Program, the candidate would also need to start over in the traditional 2-year pathway from the very beginning, without any progress made
