Intern Program: How Much Time Should I Expect to Dedicate to Reach Each Week? What Will My Schedule Look Like?

Balancing Work and Study: What to Expect as a Candidate in the Reach Intern Program

Enrolling in the Reach Intern Program means that you will be working as a teacher and engaging in coursework as a graduate student at the same time. Be prepared to dedicate time both during and outside of your workday to attend to your responsibilities as a candidate at Reach. In the two-year program, you can expect to spend 8-10 hours a week on your coursework. Because much of our coursework is job-embedded, some of these hours will be spent writing lesson plans, analyzing student work, or other activities you would also be doing as part of your regular responsibilities as a classroom teacher. Other activities, such as attending seminar, meeting with your coach, or completing your home learning to prepare for seminar, will take additional time outside of your work day.

Below are two sample schedules to help you visualize what being an intern teacher can look like. In reality, all intern schedules will look a little bit different because of your different work schedules, seminar meeting nights, coaching meeting calendars, etc. Plan to personalize your schedule to reflect your unique responsibilities and calendar.
