Synchronous Learning: Weekly Evening Seminars and Hands-On Coaching for Intern Program Candidates
Yes. Synchronous class meetings, or “seminars,” are held once a week in the evening, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM (a.k.a. “After school”) via Zoom. During seminars, you can expect to engage in small group discussions, collaboration, peer feedback, Oxford Tutorials, and other dynamic learning activities. Between seminars, you’ll be expected to complete home learning assignments such as readings and responses. You will also complete clinical field assignments, which are designed to support you to integrate what you are learning through your coursework to your teaching practice. You will also engage in one-on-one coaching and in onsite supervision throughout your time in the program. The summer preservice course, Reach 210, is an exception to this rule. It is the only asynchronous course in the Intern Program; all other courses meet synchronously once a week via zoom for cohort-based interactive learning.
