Roles and Responsibilities in the Accommodations Process

Process requests for accommodations for candidates with disabilities 


Process requests for temporary accommodations for short-term impairments and/or pregnancy/related conditions


Field candidates’ requests for alternative assignments (Dean makes determination)


Send accommodation letters to faculty by the first day of each semester 


Send advisors a list of their candidates with accommodations each semester 

Internalize accommodation letter


Early in the semester, reach out to instructors to set up time to discuss

how accommodations will be applied in courses; this is an opportunity to practice self-advocacy


Maintain communication with professors as needed 


Reach out to Accessibility Office to request any necessary changes to accommodation letter 

Save list of candidates with accommodations somewhere it can be accessed when needed 


Work in tandem with the Accessibility Office to escalate issues 

Provide accommodations in courses after communication with candidate 


Communicate with advisors about concerns through email or the ticket system (undergrad ticket; graduate ticket
