Admission Checklist and Program Requirements: Steps to Join the Reach Intern Teacher Credential Program offered through Alternatives in Action
Please note Reach University is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. Alternatives in Action is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Alternatives in Action provides the Teacher Credentialing programs for Reach candidates in California.
The Intern Teacher Credential Program requirements are:
- Submitting all of the admission materials from the admission checklist. *Please note that the subject matter competency is not an admission requirement for candidates in the two-year pathway; however, it is an admission requirement for Early Completion Option (ECO) candidates. The subject matter competency is required to obtain the Intern Credential.
- Securing a qualifying teaching position
- The teaching assignment and credential must be a match (e.g. Algebra II; Mathematics Credential, 4th grade; Multiple Subject Credential).
- Teaching a minimum of 7.5 hours per week or 1.5 hours per day in your subject area.
Below is the admission checklist:
- Official Transcript(s) - Proof of Meeting GPA Requirement
- Demonstration of Knowledge of U.S. Constitution
- Tuberculosis Risk Assessment (TB)
- Certificate of Clearance
- Offer Letter of Employment
- Resume
- Prior Field Experience Form
- Recommendation Letter (Academic or Professional)
- Subject Matter Competency Requirement (SMCR)
